Stop it you dirty minded people. today I have been to the 2017 Woodfest event down here in kent and found some banksia nuts for sale at 3 for £10 and as can be seen quite a nice size. Axminster are also here with a small gazebo also selling them at £6.95 each and they where smaller.

A common tree over here but the main supply of these come from Western Australia. In common with Bills remark wear protection when turning. A mate of mine buys them by the sackfull. They are sought after when turned.

They are called banksia nuts but really they are shrapnel nuts.

Yes and don't I already know as I turned some just wearing goggles and a mask and the unprotected parts of the face felt it as well even after I checked there where no nuts or loose bits still in the pots. I brought these for future project not yet decided upon as they are a nice size and at a good price I got them and will put them in my store until required.

Good to catch up again Mark glad you liked the half track did not have any takers on it but plenty of remarks on it as well as the big burr bowl. A good couple of days plenty of other turners to talk to as well as some woodcarvers.

A lady on a quiz show this evening spoke of an experience coming out of the ladies room reached back to shut the door felt a strange softish feeling. It turned out she had grabbed the guy behind with a squirrel hold, she apologised and then left soon after with her husband, mirth from him embarassment for her. The grabbed guy was courteous.

All this to say thats what the lady said Derek,.
