Made this out of a piece of driftwood that was washed up on the Lincolnshire side of the Humber. Could anyone enlighten me as to what wood it is please. Looking at the rich colouration of the wood leads me to believe that it is of some considerable age.

It's a lovely pen whatever wood it turns out to be. I have just been given the remains of mahogany chair that the seat was stuffed with horsehair and that is a very deep rich colour.

Nice pen,, nice shape, nice colouring, nice bit of wood, no matter what it is.. Init..

Anyway, just because it's coloured why does it make it old? If that was the case our dear old grandfather would be a different colour altogether than what he is now wouldn't he?:face:

I'm a bit confused! (doesn't take much!)
Are there two costumed people called Ed on the forum?
I seem to remember 1 Ed saying he wood buy a smock, because he wasn't good enough to win one.
Then this Ed posts a meticulously turned pen here!
Proper wood, proper fit, proper finish! What more can I say!
