What members use to paint their brass tubes white? Do you have to undercoat them? Or is it a dead simple job that I'm over-complicating? :thinks:

An interesting question. I've only made a few and used Humbrol modelling paint from the small posts and also tried Hammerite spray. I've had good and bad results with the most translucence blank showing where the paint had come off while inserting it into the blank so like Walter does is probably the best idea and do the inside of the blank as well.

I use a couple of coats of white car body primer, nothing else, just the primer. I also paint the inside of the blank (to prevent the glue showing through) with white artists acrylic.

White primer on the tubes for me as well
I don't do the inside of the blank, but it might be worth it as a precaution :thinks:

I use a set of artists acrylic paints in a rainbow of colours. I stopped painting the brass tube because if the blank is particularly translucent I could see the painted tube and the glue on it. I haven't found the best way to paint the inside of the hole yet but I use an appropriate colour paint for the blank. So I did a pink one yesterday and used pink paint. I want to get an artist's paint brush with long bristles.
