From a swap in USA I received a stick of jet black solid with brown flecks over 2000 yrs old timber from a Peat Bog.So old yet beautiful timber dark as African Ebony without most of the hangups of Ebony.

I have been saving an upmarket unnamed kit for just such an eventuality and they matched to a tee.

Peter I've only turned bog oak one time. It was very early in my pen making journey and I realize now I didn't have a clue. You've made a lovely pen. Guess I should find some bog oak and give it another go.
