You beat me to it Woody, Wellingtonia is a softwood and the grain is as you have shown much wider for a faster growing species.


Does the wood smell when turned, Camphor Laurel would have been my first guess, agree about pink Ivory. More clues required, was it heavy/light and did it turn like box or Walnut, piccies of the shavings can be a clue. Sorry cant be anymore help. Smell, weight shavings? any more clues.
