Robert Sorby's YouTube channel has 8 new how to videos for various projects that some might like so thought I'd share.

Thanks Ray I have seen them and was going to post but you beat me too it. The family say that I am too slow even to catch a cold:funny:. Some ideal for those that are not too sure about the skew chisel as well.

I have been getting those emailed to me every time they stick one on, dunno why they wanna pick on me?
I did notice in one that he used a spanner as a measure instead of calipers, this leads me to what I was doing a while ago.
Something I saw my old dad do and Woody has mentioned it in the past but I never had the need to do until recently.
Sharpen the spanner and cut with it, it gives a repeatable gauge every time init.
I was making some pen tubes with a 15mm internal and 20mm external diameter.
Every one came out the same size and looked really cool, very functional and saved a wait and money ordering pen boxes.
Saves all that rigmarole he went through and I would do it again happily.

Just to double check, do you sharpen the outside of one of the jaws of the spanner? Would it matter if the spanner is chrome vanadium or not?

I wouldn't and didn't use my best tools I just used an old cheapy open end spanner.
I will search the boot sales and do a set of them now I have done one.
This is the one I did for the outside diameter, literally just touched on the bench grinder to get a rough grind and try it out.

It worked so well I left it as is, it has done 35 pen tubes with just another touch on the grinder.
I haven't made an exact science of it but the next ones will be a bit more accurate in the grind and will set them in handle or a single handle with changeable ends.
If you can put up with his gabble Captain Eddie did a youtube which does show and explain it well init?
