I have a jet 1014 lathe, which has an integral indexing feature. I know how to engage the pin, but it doesn't seem to hold itself in very well, and easily releases. I have read that it has 24 positions, but I dont know how to know which hole I am in at any time.
my vicmarc chuck has just arrived from Timberbits (great service!). It has an indexing back plate. I have no idea how to use this feature either! Do I need another item, such as a plate to attach to the lathe?
any pointers? It looks quite a useful feature to have, particularly for turning clocks with, or adding a small router to the lathe. I don't want to spend a fortune enabling it though.
