Hi all. I'm just getting back into turning & i would like to turn some pens for a local charity . As I need the practice & I will be paying for the kits , I don't want to spend excessively. Can you please give me some suggestions. TIA.

About the cheapest and not the best is the Slimline or the Streamline which you can buy in bags of 5 between £10 and £15.
The Streamline ( to me ) is a better kit to turn and a bit easier than the Slimline.
Above that price would be in the range of £6-£10.
Above that you are entering kits that would be a lot better quality.
Hope this helps.

I would 3rd penkitzandvitz,
I like the antique rose copper slimline fancy and the Black titanium. But I always buy the Taiwanese mechanisms as they are superior to the ones in the kits.
A few of my older pens I made I have replaced the mechanism with the Taiwanese made ones. Because I didn't know any better. Hats off to you though as I do the same I make them for charity.

Prokraft are really good,

Bought byron fountain and rollerball, solid brass fountain is a great pen too I use it as my edc. So I'd second that too.
Also John fro. Prokraft makes some exilent YouTube videos so very much well worth a look :-)
