Hi

does anybody use these cartridges (packs of 6)?

I have bought some different colours for a gift, but before they arrive would like to make a box, to put a few boxes in.

If anybody has one, could they measure the box for me? I am sure that I saw a picture of a pen in a presentation box that somebody had presented the other day, which had some cartridges with it. An anodised aluminium one, but I dont remember who made it!

Thanks
Mark

there are a few proprietary ones (Parker etc), but the majority take an "international short", such as in the link above. The kit pens which we make and discuss on here take that same international short cartridge, or often can be adapted to take bottled ink.

Very little Peter. As Mark mentioned there are International Standard Short, and also International Standard Long. There are also corresponding compatible converters, most made by Schmidt and Phils Beaufort Converters etc.

Some manufacturers use the international fixtures for the nipple/coupler and OD of the cartridge, but a lot don't. Pelikan, Kaweco, Visconti, Monteverde and Waterman etc.

As an example the following pen brands all have proprietary systems: Parker/Aurora, Lamy, Sheaffer, Pilot, Sailor, Platinum, Cross to name a few.

Thank you it influences decisions for fountain pens. Things such as length of pen barrel, brasses etc when making a kit free. I have been devouring info on fountains for some time now. One fountain I have needs to be posted to reach full length pen status the short refill would appear essential. Its a ripper of a pen and came on an exchange one year.

If it's of any reference use the shortest international small converters I'm aware are theose by Kaweco their Sport range of pens, which just as you describe require posting to reach their full length:

Kaweco Mini Piston Converter | The Writing Desk, Fountain Pen specialists established 2000.
Kaweco Sport squeeze converter | The Writing Desk, Fountain Pen specialists established 2000.

(no affiliation whatsoever to either Cultpens or The Writing Desk btw, although I'd rather spend my money with TWD as they turn up to the UK pen shows and are a damn decent lot)
