Inside cap plastic sleeve

I have been sent here from Reddit pens as I have a question (thanks octopips)

I have an old generic / no make filigree Roller Ball pen that has great sentimental value for me. It is styled on the Parker Duofold. Inside the cap there is a plastic sleeve that holds the cap onto the nib part when the pen is closed. Over time the plastic sleeve has worn down and now doesn't hold the cap securely in place - lightly shake the pen and the cap flies across the room.

Is there a special name for the inner plastic sleeve, are replacement ones available to buy and if so where would I likely get one?

(I know I will have to remove the sleeve to measure it to get a match, but I don't want to do that until I know there may be a replacement available).

Many thanks.

Step 1 welcome to the forum. Step 2 get in touch with Parker and try to get a replacement or specification for your pen. With good fortune a member of this forum may be able to help you in this instance.

Peter.

Hi and welcome.....it may be possible to find spare parts....firstly is it a hand made pen or factory produced....you may need a few more posts before you can post a picture which would help a lot.....what's the internal size of the cap?? What size is the lip it clips on??20150504_084600.jpg
These use that system and might help?

Many thanks for your warm welcome and assistance. It is indeed the plastic retainer shown in the link. I will try & get some photos of the pen uploaded.

Hi Stephen - welcome to the forum.

You have two posts under your belt, so you are now able to upload photos as soon as you like.

The fitting you need is quite probably going to be diameter and length dependent I'm afraid. They are available in tucked away nooks and crannies of the internet, but given it's reliance on a click fit, a difference of a few parts on a millimetre will be the difference between success and failure. Anyway, let's see some photos to see if the pen can be identified, and that may help to start the trail.
