I was thinking of booking myself a table at a craft fair in the spring but the venue requires stall holders to have public liability insurance and to display the certificate. Is this the norm and does anyone here have this insurance?

Ray, I would think that you should have product and public liability insurance just for your own piece of mind should anything go wrong. I have mine through Ian Wallace, though no one has ever asked to see the certificate.

Thanks for the link lofty, I got a quote, £71 and doesn't include cover for tools, materials or for demonstrating at fairs, all because there's always some numpty member of the public stupid enough to not be looking what or where they're going.
