This is a lovely pen Glen. I have some bog oak that isn't quite so punky but also not quite so black. if you'd like a blank or two, pm me your address.

Nice pen Glen. But, look around, there's wood all over the shop. Our Paul is a great example of how any found wood can be turned into a spectacular pen.

That's a very kind offer from Paul but there's loads of bog oak on ebay if you look Glen, much of it sold as pen blanks.
As for other species of wood, I think the point was that there's tonnes of it around for free if you look or ask. If you look through previous threads you'll also find that great pens can be made from bamboo or olive chopping boards from the local shops and T&G flooring samples or end of line planks, much of it oak can be obtained free or very cheap with very little effort.

Looking forward to receiving this wood. I hope my pens will turn out as good as yours. I think after reading some of the kind remarks I may have given the wrong impression about not getting wood when I meant it was only Irish Bog Oak Pen Blanks I was having trouble getting hold of as my normal supply is having trouble getting hold of it.
