I can confirm that Phil Dart has agreed to take on the role of Administrator. Let's give him the support that we have shown to Jim over the past few years. This forum is a great asset to all of us and some really good friendships have been formed over the years. Taking on this role is no mean feat and requires a lot of hard work from the Administrator. Jim has put a load of work in to get this site up to the standard that it is and with our input and support to Phil long may it last. Jim has reluctantly decided to stand down due to family commitments. Let us all wish Jim and his wife Carol all the best for the future and hope that Jim keeps in touch with all his loyal followers.

I saw that as well Terry but hesitated to ask - don't know why - maybe I'm just a shy Geordie. :whistling:

As I am probably the longest current serving member of the forum after Jim I was suspicious of the name " Forum Phil" who supposedly joined 2 months after Jim started the forum and who has only 9 posts to his name and yet can make such an announcement and yet I have never heard of him. That is what made me look around Bob!!!! :thinks:

Terry I think Phil Dart may have changed his title which would account for the low number of posts

Phil never joined in Dec 2011 Vic which is what made me suspicious and I can understand why Phil has taken it on and I wish him all the best. It was curiosity that got the better of me !!!

+ 1 and good on yer Phil for taking it on, Jim will be a hard act to follow but I'm sure you will have every members' support.

I guess then Terry as I am the shy Geordie that you're the nosey one.

Guilty as charged.

Let me say right from the start that there is absolutely no attempt at deception taking place here. I have been a member of this forum in my own name since 2014, and gain immensely from it as a pen turner, in terms of information, ideas, friendship, banter and sheer enjoyment. However, it is also well known that I own and run Beaufort Ink, which is unashamedly a commercial operation which sells into the global pen turning industry.

Jim has now reached a stage in his journey where, for his own personal reasons he no longer wishes to continue administering the Penturners Forum, and in talks with him, it was agreed that I would take it over. I am determined that the Forum should continue in the same spirit in which Jim has always run it, and therefore I wanted to find a way of distancing my involvement with it as an administrator, from my involvement with it on a personal/business level. The Forum will not become simply an extension of any other commercial enterprise that I may happen to run.

Forum Phil is simply the renaming of a "test" admin identity that Jim created way back. Rightly or wrongly I have decided that if I ever need to post here "on belalf of the Forum" as it were, ie, make announcements of any sort etc, that is the identity I will use to do it. I want to make it claer that Beaufort Ink does not run this forum, and never will.

Jim's shoes are big ones to fill, but I hope that if all the members here, together with a tiny group of volunteer moderators can now go on to continue, benefit and enjoy being on the forum, I suspect that Forum Phil is someone we won't have to hear from terribly often.

Appreciate the difficulties involved in both of your haps Phil but I have never seen evidence of any clash between or and doubt in my mind who you are or what you represent. The forum has been very generous to users and sellers in the past.

As you run the forum all the very best from me and mine.
