Very few products appreciate excessive heat natural timber or made products. Especially children, if the car is wrong for children its wrong for pens.

Im totally baffled by this - can only assume its either temperature related or ink leakage (There was some ink inside the cap) - Does anyone know how ebonite should react to moisture / temperature?

by the nature of how ebonite is manufactured it will reshape and deform if exposed to temperatures of above 70.C

I understand that some manufacturing processes use linseed oil, that will also break down with the heat and cause other problems. I guess it will also change when you add ink in to the pot as well.

I think 70°C could be reached on a car dashboard even in our climate, on a sunny day. I know CDs and DVDs will warp if left there.

Parts of the interior of the work truck started to melt, (I nearly did too.:sob:) last summer, the A/Con wasn't working, took them nine month to get it fixed.:rant:

Good God that's incredible, it must be life threatening for some. At least the truck was fixed for the next summer haha.
