I am at the same stage myself Ed just waiting to take the plunge,go for it

First casting done, a simple blue and orange swirly thing but it went horribly wrong. My hand slipped when adding the catalyst to the blue and within a heartbeat the blue solidified into a blue brick. Now I have a one colour orange blank which if I change it's name to Tangerine may attract a Blackpool FC supporter ( if there are any around these days) . Second casting looks more promising, black with gold and silver glitter as ordered by granddaughter number one ,we wait with baited breath for the outcome:thinks:

Now the fun starts Ed, I find it a lot easier to use a pipette to accurately administer the drops. Good luck with your casting, We will look forward to seeing the results.:thumbs:

Get yourself some 1mm syringes from eBay for the MEKP use only a 1% mix as it will get too brittle if you put loads in.

Let the fun begin, look forward to the results. I use an eye dropper get the syringe and pull out the plunger put finger over the hole where a needle fits(with rubber glove on) now drop the catalyst with the dropper into the syringe until the 1ml mark is reached counting the drops that is then the amount needed for the correct measure of resin.

Why bother to take out the plunger, just suck it up through the shringe, it's a lot less messing about, especially with a needle, quick, easy and accurate.

Only need to do this once then use the eye dropper to put the correct amount in.

I don't count any drops just suck up the amount needed, for example if I use 100ml of resin I pull 1ml of MEKP into the shringe and squirt it into the resin, 350ml of resin I squirt in 3.5ml of MEKP works a treat without counting drops:thumbs: but I understand using a method you feel confident with no matter what it is.

I have yet to cross the casting threshhold too many timber pieces. Next fellas you will be Alchemist material like Brad.

I do favour the disposable plastic pippets that Mark uses.

I think there are 30 drops to 1ml but will have to check my notes in the shed tomorrow.

Using a syringe you don't have to keep notes of how may drops makes 1ml, you just suck up 1ml., you also don't run the risk of losing count if something distracts you, why complicate things.
