Hi,

I've over trimmed the barrel on my blank which has left the brass tube proud at both ends. Can I rescue it or start again?

It depends what kit it is for and how much is protruding, if it is a streamline or slimline then there shouldn't be a problem as there is quite a bit of leeway.

Use a sander and sand them back level with the blank Ruth, should be fine ..

Slimline kit.

You can get away with at least 1/8th of an inch trimmed off the tube, may be more, if it is more than an 1/8th" then you can add a little piece of contrasting wood to make it up.

When squared if it measures little alongside a new brass tube be careful pressing the winding mechanism in checking the protusion of the biro.

If it can be made the top no matter there is leeway there.

Tic the above suggestions pics help.

Peter.

Use it as an opportunity to do what you was asking about on another post put a contrasting wood on the end and use it as your centre band

If I oversand my blanks & theyre a wee bit short I drill a hole in a piece of 4mm mdf to take the clip cap then sand the spigot down the mdf, this gives me another 3mm to play with.
