This is a Junior Gent in a Mallee Burr, can't remember the colour, With celtic crosses on the barrel and cap, but I have decided it is too buusy with both of them so am turning another and will substitute a plain cap on one and a plain barrel on the other. I had a problem on the last cut of the cross on the barrel, the bandsaw blade snapped befor I could do the last cut and the new bandsaw blade wasn't the same kerf so I had to put in a piece of shim which you will see if you look close enough.

Very nice Peter, and it is good to see that you knew it was a bit in ya face before we had the chance to tell ya ...

The good thing is that you will have two beauties now and not just the one ... :bwink: Well done on saving the cross had you not mentioned it, it would not have been easy to see ...Do you use a jig for making these Peter?

Very nicely done, Peter. Did you have problems turning the brass down? I find brass quite 'snatchy' when I use it as a veneer, even if its a whole lot thinner than that!

My wife thought it was okay, but to me it was too busy, she was overruled.

Yes it's a fixed 45deg sled I made for the bandsaw.

No, I turn it about 1500 and use a skew until it is round then I either continue for a while with the skew or use a round carbide tip.

How do you use it as a veneer?

Like this, Peter. 0.15mm brass sheet, but I think the fact that it ran end-to-end along the barrel meant that the chisel caught it 'square' and I had a few brown-trouser moments ...

Ah now I understand what you meant by veneer, yes I have had some lengthways brass in a blank and without the skew I think it would have parted company with the wood.

I love the clip on that pen can you elaborate on how it was made and fixed?
