Partly for personal reasons, partly because I have been doing other things and partly because I have only been making run of the mill stock pens for my stall in the TIC at Morpeth I haven't posted here recently, although I have been lurking in the background watching what is going on.

I have though eventually got round to making up the first of some jigsaw blank kits that Mark Tassell (Flexi) sourced for me. Finished with Chestnut melamine lacquer and fitted to a Beaufort rhodium and black ti Sirocco. This first attempt has a few very minor issues that likely no-one but me or another pernickerty pen maker will spot so I will be keeping it for myself.

Making it was a learning exercise, notes to self:

1. If you are using waxed paper during assembly make sure it is double sided or that the wax side is next to the blank. Reaming out glued in paper carefully by hand is tedious.

2. Don't hold the end of the blank below the application point of thin CA or you fingers will get covered in glue/stuck to the blank.

3. Don't spray CA accelerator on the blank whilst holding it with the hand you have just coated with CA. OUCH!

4. Always check that you have CA debonder to hand before you glue your fingers to the blank. Or maybe remember you have a box of nitrile gloves on the shelf in front of you. Duh!
