Inspired by some basket illusion work I've seen recently. I thought I have a go at something similar and turned this small box in the shape of a laundry basket that we once owned in the seventies.
It was coloured using Winsor and Newton pro markers and finished with melamine spray lacquer.

Thanks for looking.

A great effort. Time and patience are certainly needed.

You will find that the illusion would be better if you formed beads around the pot which would give the look of woven material.

Thanks Derek, you are right about the beads. I just wanted to see what the process of creating a design and colouring it was like, so just made some lines with the end of my skew. I am now thinking of buying a small bead forming tool to make the operation simple.

Keep playing and enjoy the journey I am experimenting with two pieces at the moment and a third in the pipeline enjoying every minute even with the few problems I have encountered
