I may even start to turn another pen so in preparation I brought a small press to add to the workshop. The steel rule is 12" and the rate for this little tool is 3 ton, do you think it would work

Have you got a step ladder to reach the top of the handle..you'll be hard 'pressed ' to beat it tho, well done

No chance of pushing the transmission in too far with that wee thing!

Christine, my other half, has a 1 ton arbour press. Used to punch holes, shape and to emboss patterns onto leather. Never used it to assemble pens together.

Well I do have a 10ton hydraulic in the garage “ just in case of a stiff transmission “…..

It has been useful , if perhaps a bit ott for pen pressing
