Had the blank on the lathe this morning. I did not have to use any turning tools as there was very little material to come off. Just lightly sanded up to 1200 grit then wet sanded with Micro Pads up to 12000 grit. Finally finished With Hut Ultra Plastic Polish and a final spin with some microcrystalline wax.

Sorry about the Photo quality !

I like the fact that its hand made and you've finished it very nicely Vic but can't stop looking at it as if its mass produced plastic, it probably looks better in the hand than in a photo.

I see where your coming from Paul but when you have the pen in hand it weight and balance are really nice and it doesn't look plastic. I would never be able to produce the exact pattern in the blank as they all come out different .

Pete you would think it was a piece of Acrylic during the sanding process. As stated earlier I did not have to put a tool to it as when I made it up I put the bushes in the tube and just rolled it until the clay was just proud of the bushings, doing that you save on clay as well as time.

I am going to make a few up tonight as I am well pleased with the way this one turned out. I have a couple of Lucidas that I am going to do and also see how they look on a Sierra.

I only brought 2 patterns of the cane to give it a try but i am sure I will soon be placing another order.

Thanks for that, I think there is a lot more to come out with the polyclay, I am looking forward to seeing what you do next and can't wait for mine to come.

I guessed that would be the case Vic, I was only commenting and trying to be honest about what I could see. I have also made pens that don't look good in a photo but look fabulous in the hand. I fully appreciate the workmanship that's gone into it as well.
