Mark's link shows you what to do, but in a nutshell George, the answer is a pen made from first principles, without the use of pre-made components from a pen kit, beyond a nib and nib housing, an ink converter, and possibly a clip.

I have seen many of these tutorials over the last several weeks - the photos in this one are excellent. This is the tipping point for me to buy the taps and dies and take the plunge!Thanks for sharing.
