I bought a lump of burr elm from Snainton which I cut up into blanks and my pens turned out similar to that. Is it one of the pieces I gave you???

No the pieces you gave me are a lot more figured Terry and proper burr.

Whatever it is Paul, it looks good my friend ..

I can assure you Paul, i didn't take the 2nd image, i can only assume that it is due to the issues that we are having with the site .. Or there is the chance you only added the one of course .. You were on the Whiskey blanks early, just saying that's all ..:ciggrin:

That don't look anything like a burr to me Doc, more like Laburnum than elm.
Nice pen though as always well finished.
Where has my quick reply box gone I have to press the reply to thread button now?

I did send you a popular blank Woody and this is one from the same batch. The reason I said Popular in the first place was because it looked similar to a piece of popular that Neil gave me but on turning it, it didn't have any of the same soft characteristics. The person who gave me it said it was Elm but it doesn't look the same as any other elm I've got either.

I don't no good at this wood ID lark but I have seen pens that look like that and they were Judas wood and Laburnum.

He's away enjoying himself at some show in Devon, peddling his wares. He usually carries his iPad but I don't think the internet has got to Devon yet though.
