Here is one of my kids I engraved today, photo prep took longer than the engraving but it was worth it. It's around 6x5" and engraved on birch plywood. I also made the hearts but that was done on the CNC.

Gorgeous mate. What laser engraver do you have?

They are bang on Phil, it is hard to see that the photo has been lasered it looks really nice ... :winking:

Same question as David, Phil .. Do you have both a CNC and a Laser? :thinks:

Looking at the depth of those hearts, it's either a mighty powerful laser or two separate mocheenes / heads.
Either way I am dead jealous init?
Lovely work.

Bloody nora Phil that's a brilliant bit of work. I'm not a massive fan of technology, it's all voodoo and black magic. But i can certainly appreciate the work of those who do like and use it. Nice one! :bravo:

Cheers guys, glad you like them. I have 2 different machines, 1 CNC and 1 laser. This photo was done on my new machine which was a self build, I have part of the project log here: https://hackaday.io/project/316-simple-diy-laser-cutter I will update it soon to show the current state(finished  ) I will release all plans for the machine when it's finished.

The picture took about 50 mins to engrave but I'm still slowly pushing the machine, it will do the same engraving in 1/4 the time as soon as I'm happy with the machine.

It's not much different from building a CNC, you just need to keep the X axis light ready for 25,000mm/m engraving speeds :whistling: Also, make sure it is all completely level or the mirrors will never align

I keep thinking about building one of these. Read a nice article on making them with the laser from a dvd writer, using the motors from two dvd drives. It would only do about 35mm square, but could be a fun project. I have a spare raspberry pi to run it with too.
