My Charnwood W815 gave up the ghost yesterday, started intermittently slowing down then stopped completely. At 17.30 in the evening sent an email to them. by 10.30 this morning I'd had a phone call from Dave their technical man, result is that I've removed the motor & variable speed control & they'll collect it & test. Very good response from them I thought. But no turning from me for a while - sob :sob:

Really sorry to hear that Tony.

If you have anything urgent you need completing or have any outstanding orders, you are more than welcome to pop over here and use mine
Only condition is that you don't break mine :funny:

Thanks Garno, anything I've got to do can wait a week or two, it's all for friends and they won't mind, the only important job isn't required till spring next year. Gives me an excuse to sort out the workplace anyway! Should cost me nowt as the lathe is under warranty.

And you are most welcome to them - tea is the one thing I don't drink:shocking: I'm a coffee man - but only one cup a day - can't function without my morning brew :rolling:

Bad luck Tony, you are lucky it is still under warranty.
My metal lathe did that to me 3 days before the warranted run out, a few people that had the same lathe, had the same problem.

Old Theo, who volunteered to go to Nazi Germany as slave labour, because they were getting more food than the dutch population, he used to get two and a half cup from one teabag.

Yesterday, (Saturday 30th.) text from DPD - your parcel from Charnwood will be delivered at etc. etc. Parcel duly arrived - a new motor & control box. About 20 min. to carefully fit into place. Result lathe running again. Charnwood came up trumps - great service :thumbs::thumbs:

Full marks Charnwood.

Yep! I was very pleased with their service, I could have bought the same lathe from any number of online vendors, prices about the same, they are all made in China & rebadged, but chose Charnwood because they seemed a reputable company, I was correct there!
