my first attempt at a lidded box

it is in 3 parts...i was playing
left a "finial" inside top part so you can put your ring on it
bottom part for earrings

the top lid is too slack
the bottom is a friction fit

i cant say i like the shape...but it is only way u learn i guess
the finish needed re-doing..but prob wont bother as it will become firewood

I like the idea Steve. The ring holder could do with a cleaner
sweep instead of the step. Mind you I am trying to look on my phone

Good first attempt. I made a few last year and they were no where near as nice!

Steve don't worry about the lid being a little slack. If you make it a "pop" fit the earrings & rings will jump out the box onto the floor when you prise the lid off. For some reason turners have to have a tight lid. I've had to microwave some boxes for 10 seconds to get the lid to pop up when they shrunk on.

Put a groove in and stick an O-ring in it that’ll tighten the joint.
Don't bin it, keep it for your pen parts when assembling them, it'll be a reminder fro the next one.
Bugger!!! My Drain wants a ring holder now she seen this??

There's no one can knock the wind of the sails like the missus can with just a few words.. They drive us on, Steve (to despair!)

I like it, clever design and some interesting features. I though the O-ring idea was a good 'un. But no, go make her another! :nonono::nonono:

For a 1st mate, it ain't that bad. To go fo a 3 level one is brave but you've got the process by the looks of it. Once the function is sorted the form will follow. Looking forward to seeing the mk2
