This is my second attempt at a lidded box. I wanted a simple cylindrical shape and I'm pleased with how it turned out, it even has a wee pop when the lid comes off. Finished with linseed oil and buffed on the buffing mops.

Cheers
Craig

You are getting some lovely shapes and fine spinning and finishing.
Please stop using scrap and get some decent wood.

As much as I would like to take credit for casting these, I'm afraid I cannot, it is a George blank. I would love to get into casting but I don't have time to experiment nor do I have space, my garage is full!

Gotta stop the boss ( wife ) looking at these pages... she has been going on for the last hour or so about how wonderful this box is and saying things like if I'm not capable of casting and making something similar maybe I should buy it .......

Great piece the boss is not normally so enamored by a turning...

Tell her to empty the kids university fund and send it to me and it's yours! If you have a lathe, chuck and a few chisels you can make one too, just take your time. As for the casting, I certainly can't claim I did that, coz I didn't.
