Hi all,

Sometime ago Derek (Dalboy) gave me an old and decommissioned green bowling ball made from Lignum Vitae. I started to turn it not sure how things were going to develope. It was so hard it put it to one side for a few weeks thinking that I will give it another try later on. I did start it again and this is what I landed up with. It does polish nicely. The lid is spalted Field Maple turned out of one piece.

Not too sure about the design but can always turn another lid if needed.

BTW that's not turning marks in the lid, it's a feature that doesn't show too well with my fantastic professional photography. :whistling::whistling:

Two contrasts often liven the subject in this case it did Lignum is a bear to work from bowling balls and the master who provided yours makes it appear easy.I am guessing the outside isalready virtually ready but internal requires steady holding, love it mate.

A good use of the ball Frederick I would have like to see the lid flow more with the bottom. Very well done on the off-centred finial/handle well it looks like it is off centre:tongue:

Second attempt. I would have liked to make the knob taller but didn't have the wood. Still not sure about it so may try something else later.
