Following Jims' post a few weeks ago (thank you Mr boss man), I emailed Bob Gibbs in California and following a few email conversations he very kindly posted these to me. Each is about 100 x 20mm and he included a nice handwritten message. All FOC

What a nice guy, these look very interesting indeed.

Might be a wee while before I do mine Peter so that's interesting.
Bob did say that there would be voids that needed filling with CA. Have you tried CA and sanding dust?
I managed to turn a pen from CA soaked pine cones a while ago so I'm hopeful these blanks will work ok as they're a heck of a lot more solid. The secret with the cones was I think VERY sharp tools and light cuts.

Keep at it, you'll get there.

As Jim originally said, Bib Gibbs actively encourages pen turners to email him for sample blanks and included some of his business cards for me to give away so you should give him a shout at bobspenfactory@gmail.com

He is 78 years old and looks very active it seems. as I said, a nice guy.
