Finally got my desert ironwood log cut up, and last night a friend brought me a whole truckload of carob logs.

Sharon there are checks and balances to be made yet how dry is the timber? What do you intend to make? Good fortune in the breakdown. Both timbers have great promise good luck.

Gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that Andrew is Fiona's hubby, not Sharon's? Nice haul of wood there, Sharon! Does the ironwood live up to it's name when you are turning it?

Well, I use carbide table saw blades, chain saw blades, bandsaw blades, and turning tools. Any other questions?

The ironwood has been cut seven years. The carob reads 9.8 percent on my moisture meter. I'm going to sell some of it. I made a bunch of pepper mills with carob at Christmas. It's a lovely shade of pink and seems to keep its color. I'm going to try a few small bowls and such. And pens, of course!

I find Carob can be absolutely incredible ever since I visited a factory where the owners of the bean produce owned a huge forest of these trees even the plain stuff as you say has that lovely pink and does retain it. Thanks for the details of age and dryness how far in are the crac:thumbs:ks Sharon?

Won't know about the cracks until I cut it up. many of the pieces have no cracks. Moisture is 9.8 percent and I'm anchorsealing it today.
