.....well, not actually lost, I know where I put them.

Firstly I did this to make a private seating area in the garden.

The planks of wood have marbles set in the to catch the rising sun. It's a beautiful place to start a summers day with a cup of coffee

Then I made another 'suncatcher' to hang on the summerhouse and bring some sparkle

Then I found a scrap of old ply and made an apple tree ornament

So now I have officially lost all my marbles

Very novel, I like the idea of the marbles in the garden.

David you have dibs on that idea novel and interesting loved the pics makes complete sense when you see how you executed the plan. My dearly beloved collected Ginger Beer bottles and on my trips away cemented them into a wall in our bottom garden that has been hers alone since we moved into the house in1978 she enjoys her domain and spends quality time there with our dogs and cats who adore it with her. My workshop is adjacent and thats my large space. Thanks for sharing mate.

Thats a very good idea David, it looks like a very nice place to start the morning off. Nice and simple are the best ideas and that is definitely one of the best ideas.

Cheers for the nice comments. The marbles are just a tight fit. I measure them then drill the hole a smidge (technical term) smaller. Most of the marbles are nominally just over 16mm. So a 16 mm hole and a gert big wooden/rubber mallet seems to do the job. I just ensure that no 2 holes are too close together along the same line in the grain. Sometimes a marble comes up a bit small, and is a bit loose, so it's either swap it for another marble or use some waterproof pva type glue and wipe the excess off the marble. I reckon the neighbours must think I'm a bit potty hammering marbles into wood.

I really like that, and even better, I think my mother-in-law would like it too - time for my father-in-law to earn some brownie points!

Great Idea

I've recently found a load of my sons marble (muggies and penkers around here) out of the loft but he would kill me if I stuck them in a fence.
He's 32 BTW:funny:
