Lots of Traffic - but new Lathe

It normally takes me about one and half hours to get to Yandles but thanks to road works and lots of Holiday traffic over three hours yesterday.
Took that long I had to wait until today to set my new lathe up.

All done now and a lot dirtier than in the photo.
First impressions are that this is a great piece of kit so very well made and lined up perfect out the box. A complete contrast from my old one.
Took some lifting out of the car and onto the bench. Luckily a neighbour dropped into his unit at the perfect time to get red in to giving me a lift.

Looking forward to putting it through its paces.

Never seen one of these,my observations tell me now the benefit of having the drive motor above the bench also away from the lathe is that it frees up all the space under the lathe. It does not lend itself to drilling using the tail stock it looks like only about 50mm movement.Like the look of the tailstock apart from the movement it was cast sturdy,tons of room on the bed for pens etc.

Alan my impression it was worth the travel,so glad it lines up it seems to me manufacturers took many years to bother with good alignment,even the best made ones.I would have kept the opening behind the lathe to enable daylight turning.I know privacy is vital also but a translucent cover would fix that.All the best enjoy your new treasure.

Check the hole in the Banjo is truly vertical, they’ve had a few that weren’t. Record have been very good at replacing faulty ones.
