Well, yes I accept your point, but as disposable income in many families is limited after pre-existing commitments have been met, anyone wishing to buy a new lathe may find it strategically helpful to run it past their other half before doing so, as it may impact adversely on the family finances - which was I believe what Miles may have been implying before you waded in there and told him to man up.
