I have got two 1/4 inch silver steel bars I was going to sand them down to make spares but I found that one set of bushes fit the 1/4 bar 12.07mm x8.32mm, So I started to sand the bar  sanded to the 11.88 x 7.36 these bushes fitted half way up the bar The third set of bushes sanded some more to fit 11.97 x 9.82 , I would have to sand even more to fit the 7mm bushes, So the bushes I have got means that I have to have 4 mandrels to get a good size to fit different pen kits,

This shows that the ID size of the bushes is not a universal size. This mean to get the kits to fit the finished blanks throw away the mandrel bar keep the bushes and make a set of centres to turn between
