I forgot about Masur Birch when I did my desert island timber fantastic wood, I really like this Alex lovely pen & finish.:thumbs:

Turners retreat are selling logs of it for about £100 each depending on the weight they are about 6Kg each

The only problem is the rays dont always run right to the middle like any wood nothing is consistent it is better to pick your own logs personally

Spot on Woody. In the last couple of years the price of masur birch has gone horrific and the quality has plummeted. £60 for a manky billet the size of a can of paint... No substiture for self selection at these prices. Mine is old, good stock if I say it myself.
