Lovely bit of wood jim nicely made up into what I hope will prove to be a good pen.
Just about every jnr gent I have done lately is coming back with broken threads in the cap.
I have blamed the user till now but my own one broke on Friday, that's me finished with em again.

Brian, where did you get the kits from? Also, I work with a guy who bought one of these from me last September that is still in good working order, and he uses this every day?

Does anyone else have this issue? Have we got an underlying issue that we don't know of .. :nooidea:

I'll be buggered if I can remember Jim, I certainly haven't bought any recently so could be anywhere, I am using all old stock to get gone.
I have said many times how disillusioned i have been with kit quality and until it improves I refuse to buy any.
Other people have given me kits or bought them for me to make up.
I don't think it's supplier issue but a manufacture issue, maybe they have gone brittle with age in the packets but even so it shouldn't happen.
I have heard all the excuses and reasons for not using metal threads but I am still not convinced plastic is any better.
I too have some old jnr gents in regular use that are fine but the ones I have done recently are no better than seconds.

Out of about 30 we have bought from TB,2 had damaged threads meaning the pen couldn't be 'posted' and 1 had half of the threads missing completely so the pen wouldn't even go together.

Have wrote to Timber Bits and await a reply.
