After a reply from Bill regards the Copyright on some of the items that I have made, I decided to have a look into this (more in-depth) and have found that the "Company" I purchased the pictures from for the Marvel Mugs does NOT have the rights to re-sell the images and has no right to tell people who purchased the images they can use them :noman:

The world of Copyright Images is a real minefield and selling anything with a copyrighted image (or even likeness) can land you in court facing very stiff fines :noway1:

So as I do a fair amount of Military items, Pens, Mugs, etc etc I have had a look into the Licensing of the military badges and images.
Not as expensive as I first thought, so my application went it and I was informed on Friday that my application was granted and I can now sell Licensed Military items (specific Items) so my items are..
  • Resin Picture Blanks.
  • Mugs / cups (Not limited to any particular size/shape or type)
  • Pens (Fountain / Ballpoint / Pencil)
  • Drinks Bottles (Not limited to any particular size/shape or type)
I still can not legally sell anything until my certificate comes through and I have to list any item sold as "Under License from the MOD"

But at least I am going to be safe from prosecution and fines :phew:

I have contacted Marvel Studios regards this and the Football association as (I didn't know this) ALL flags / team colours / likenesses etc are copyrighted.....
Be interesting to see what they say. :thinks:

So many thanks to Bill for his comment and getting me to look into this as its possibly saved me from being prosecuted :claps:

It always pays to check resources, provenance and ownership, including company checkers. I have been very close to being ripped off by people just wanting to get a fast buck and they know copy ownership are not there own.

On that subject you might have to look at photos as well regarding copyright. But they would have to prove it's theirs. We had case here a few years back when two photographers entered into a photography competition. One was asked to take his photo out as the other said he copied his. He still had the image on his compact disc and also was able to run the history off photoshop..... to prove that he took the image....
