Thanks for sharing Alex, the grain does look very nice indeed .. I can see some lovely bowls coming from this lot ... :thumbs: How long did it take him to cut it up ... :thinks:

Good on you and well done. There is something immensely satisfying saving something like this and converting it. The temptation now, to use it prematurely, must be resisted! What thickness have you had it slab bed at?

If you're neighbours decide to fell anything like this again, I know a man with a mobile woodmizer that can slab 15 ton logs in around an hour. £350 a day so make sure it's a biggy and I'll go halves. Great shame the rest of the tree went on the fire, in fact criminal!

I hope you enjoy using it.

i would love to sell timber for a living but i think i would struggle to sell any as i want to keep it all but one day
