Well I've seen some nice kit-less bullet pens, so I though let me have a try. I used SA80 5.56 mm. It is 56 mm long and I have cut it in two. On cone side I soldered 7 mm tube and installed the slimline transmission. For the cone I used the projectile but removed the lead from it to keep the weight down.

The wood is unknown as I got it long time ago when I did not care about wood species :whistling: I think it is cocobolo.

I am unsure would I put a clip or not... I'll see how I feel...

Very nice pen indeed ZT, if that is Cococbolo you certainly have a lovely piece. I love the strip of bullets lined up in the photo, just waiting for their turn ...

A very nice pen indeed, and with a real bullet, it just doesn't get better. Whatever the wood is, its nice.

Nice little pen you've constructed there ZT ..... On my mk 2 version of Paul's bullet pen I have had the same idea as you about not including a clip but have left the cap end un-drilled so that it shows the makers marks and date, adding to it's authenticity.

These are inert ammunition HERE. So no gun powder, the primer is already struck, and the projectile is real deal. It is very safe.

Since this was proof of concept I just sprayed the brass with 2 coats of clear lacquer spray and wood is few coats of BLO and CA.
I do not know how would I protect the brass on "real" pen... Maybe clear powder coating?

I turned mine with wet and dry, then used brasso to get a good shine and then gave it a coat of Rustins Metal lacquer. Applied with a cloth it goes off in 1/2hr
