Mistral set in wenge

Just sanding sealer between each grit.

Neat to have such a combination in Pencil and Ballpoint.

I have never used sanding sealer so extensively,could be an answer for me when using Wenge,for me a strange hard timber.

The softer finish is desirable,the design one of the best so far using this kit. Sorry for the repeat busted my right wrist yesterday and my computer had said no.

Thank you Peter. I find that sanding sealer between the grits makes for a more reliable finish with fewer coats of melamine required.

After having some doubt cast in my mind by Brad (Bammer) as to whether this was in fact wenge I have re-examined my stock of blanks and done some research in various wood identification books.

I have concluded that the wood is not in fact wenge but ziricote. Just as much of a dusty pain to turn though.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Off back into the workshop now to prepare the blanks for a commissioned pencil in myrtle burr.
