I was never really happy with the flimsy plastic mitre gauge that came with my cheap Chinese Axminster belt and disk sander, but none of the after market ones I could find came with a bar that would fit the 5/8" x 1/4" slot (not even Axminster's own brand ones)

Solution - I bought one from Axminster's North Shields store and modified it by fitting my own 5/8" x 1/4" mild steel bar.

Half an hour's basic metalwork and here we have it:

Sensible and should follow a thorough setting up of the guide slot to the Disk to promote accuracy. I like the width of the mitre guage almost up to the disk.
