Got the final shape agreed with the Mrs for the lamp that she asked for. Sanded to 600 grit and first coat of Teak oil slapped on.

I used a Record Auger Neil. To be honest mate Monkey Puzzle has a central core that is very soft and it was just a case of cleaning it out rather than boring it

I have a twist drill braised to a length of round steel with a cross handle will drill three feet deep works ever time through the tail stock.
