Ha ha - thanks chaps, a right warm welcome.
No, not been lurking I've only just found the forum today now that I'm getting into this and have a thirst for improving and learning more.
I've got a few fairly nice woodwork hand tools that I use for other work like a Veritas dovetail saw, and a set of Narex chisels, but let's put it this way - they are better than I am currently!
I like nice quality tools but also don't have tons of cash floating about or want to get something way better than I'll need for ages yet.
Anyway, here's a couple of bits I've recently done for practise, a mahogany 'toolbox' collet pencil (not sure anyone would actually have one of these in a toolbox!!), an olive wood clicky pencil, and a walnut handle on the magnifying glass.
The Olive just has oil applied to it, the big pencil had a few layers of CA and a bit of a polish, and the walnut piece had sanding sealer applied & sanded down to 800 then a bit of mesh on it, before several layers of CA and a good polish done.
Hope they're not too bad for starters!
