These pens are made from the Mulberry i got from Sharon, i have to admit they were very challenging, there were voids that went all the way through the blanks which i stabilised using very thin CA glue, the wood itself was very tough so sharpening the skew every 2 minutes seemed the best thing to do. I know it is an old cliché, but these pictures really doesn't show off the wood that it deserves .. I used a CA finish for the obvious reasons polished with Meguiars Scratch X .. The center bands are made from Blackwood ..

Jim...You did a good job with those.

:love_it:

Now you know why I told you they were FRAGILE. But they are worth all the effort. I think it is about the prettiest wood I have ever turned. The wood has tremendous chatoyancy which is impossible to photograph.

It has almost a 3D effect. It looks like you're looking deep into the wood.

Sharon, it is something i have not seen before in any wood, that is why i say the pictures don't really show what we are talking about ...
