This is what I came up with for the competition, it has two purposes, one it is for someone with Arthritis in their hand to write with and the other use is as a Yawara stick. It's surprising light as I used spalted Silver Birch and the size was arrived at by telephoning my MIL in Norway and asked her to hold different diameter things in a writing position, no I am not inviting rude comments, as she has stopped writing letters as her arthritis is too bad and she can't hold a normal pen. It weighs 90gr. and is 170mm from tip to tip and is 42mm dia. at the centreband. The finish is CA and I buffed it instead of MM and it is a mirror finish, just look at the ends and you will see the reflection of the nibs. So we have 1 entry into the competition:thumbs:

Interesting.

I do a few of the Geoff's for arthritic customers.
Three times the size of a Cigar ballpoint.

Well, I like the novelty of this design, and its usefulness if it helps the writer - nice one, Peter!

In Tottenham where I grew up a gooly, as Penpal has said, is one of two objects residing in the nether regions of the male body that, in a punch-up you did your best to protect. Failure to do this would result in an instant victory for your opponent - and days of painful waddling about like a bandy ostrich for the victim!!!

It really was for a bit of fun, but how useful it will be I will find out at Easter when my wife will take it to Norway with her and let my MIL try it out, It is very comfortable to hold even for me. I know what a gooly is, I just didn't know what it was in the context Woody used it.
