Was a meat saw in another life it weighed in around 1/2 a ton brought it home lugged it in to the workshop and modified it heavily it had a giant open throat so it was great to break down huge Burls etc.

It had a rolling Stainless carriage (out the door) a vee guide replaced that with three ball races top and bottom guides. Made a table out of an operating theatre stainless table cut down, fitted dust extraction here and there it was a brute.

The motor was a single phase 4 HP monster 30 yrs old heavy as and when I bought the saw to check it at the guys yard I ran it on a ten amp lead 25 metres long it was a freak it never even made the lead warm and I used it for many years on a three pin plug when I upgraded to an 8 foot C Frame saw I stripped it gave a mate the motor he used it in a home made 15 inch circular saw bench for cutting up bridge timber 40 yrs old. I used to cut up hundreds of blanks at a time from burl etc. It served me well.

Whenever I am asked how big a band saw and I say as big as you can fit in your workshop. My son in law moved and gave me a 21 inch 3HP Carba Tech saw and I use that now with others.

Just reminiscing.

Peter.
