Both kit and wood are superb. the turner is an idiot. I turned both ends down to the size of the bushings and then realised after fitting the cap that I should have turned it in slightly. Duh!
I don't know it was because it was late at night or my interpretation of how it should be finished Neil but on the second one, the fit is much better where I turned the end in and to do that I had to remove it from the bushings and put the smaller bush on and turn it down to that and then it fits perfectlyPaul - I'm a bit confused as to what you think you did wrong, the cap is turned too large at the cap end, but how did this happen if you as you say, turned it down to the size of the bushings? Looks good as it is but you could, if you feel brave, take the top apart and refine the contours and refinish and reassemble.
Thanks Walter. While I am my own biggest critic I think the wood and the posts here are bringing me round to liking it, I'm just a bit disappointed that its not right.Well I not only like it I love it the whole thing looks so amazing I wont even bother with that little bit on the cap end well done

Paul,
Something wrong here, have you got the bushes that have four separate parts or the bushes that have two ends and a combined middle? Each of the four bushes is a different size, the largest one goes on the bottom of the cap, the next largest on the top of the lower barrel, the 3rd larget is the cap and the smallest is the nib bush. You shouldnt need to change them around at all during turning.
