From start to this stage all bloody day init?
Takes far to long enuf to get a decent blade, considering I can buy this for a few pound I sure as hell won't be doing another.
I have a bolster cut and drilled ready for fitting with a bit more filing and cleaning.
Hardened and tempered on the pub BBQ which is like a furnace.
Tool steel supplied by Bobby Lons, cheers Bob, I just wanted to do one from start to finish, will show the end result when done init?

Note to self:: Fit scales before putting the edge on, it's bloody sharp now init?

Not so perfect Paul, I lost the crispness of the edges while polishing it but yes I am very happy with it.
Wondering what to do with handle, fit scales each side, turn a round one or carve one for it.
I could save up me milk bottles tops and compress a plastic one init?

Oh ta dad, sounds like a plan init?
Tang is 65mm long, blade depth 22mm X 5mm thick, so a piece about 5 Metres long and 500 mm square should just about do the job.

Well mate. I like it. And considering this is a first too. Think you're onto a winner here. I'm looking forward to seeing this finished:thumbs:
