First off a rather lumpy zebrano slimline done with carbide tools on Tuesday. I wasn't happy with the finish so decided to learn to use the skew.

So did one in maple with the skew. Not as smooth as I would like but a lovely finish off the skew, no sanding needed but didn't quite get the ca finish right.

Finally another in Zebrano from yesterday which I'm quite pleased with. Managed to get a photo before my son took it for work

Gonna try a spalted beech one next.

Yep,well on the way, nice to see you are being your own critic as well.

But something I would say is the center of the 2nd looks as though the bottom half in nearly there but the top looks a little proud.

The 3rd one looks a little chubby on both ends and needed a little more taking off. But that is only my opinion.

As for the CA, you will find your own way of finishing with that. Persevere and it will come in the end.

Well done, excellent start to a great hobby..

Looking good there Mick. It takes a while before you find your equilibrium with pen making and what works best for you, so don't be too hard on yourself. Not many folk make as good a job on their first pens. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the kind comments. No sanding sealer involved. Knocked out some spalted beech pens today and I'm loving the skew chisel especially not having to sand.
Will try to finish the pens tomorrow and get some pics up.
