It was for me the order of operations. My first attempt at making the blank was to glue an aluminum plate between the blocks and then drill the hole on the lathe. When drilling, the glue came loose because the aluminum became too hot. Tried 4 types of glue. Nothing remained intact. Then first drilled a hole in everything and glued(CA) everything onto the tube piece by piece. Turning is not the most difficult, but you do have to take into account the difference in resistance between the wood and aluminum. Furthermore, I found it difficult to drill the holes in the aluminum.
